I'm sad and angry and what happened makes me laugh.. all at the same time.

you'll see, like a month ago, I bought some threads to do some presents. So, today, happily I was kniting, my ball of thread was finishing so I went to pic up another one and SURPRISE they were different.. there is a tiny silver filament that changes it completely.. so one ball out of four is wrong and I had the bad luck as to start my scarf with the wrong one.

Now, I'll have to start again and use the wrong ball for another project.

Oh, I was so happy with my scarf, and it was 1 meter long already :(

Clothing dreams

Oh no. Not this again. It's the clothing dream. I've been having it for fifty years. Aisle after aisle, closetful, metal rack after metal rack of clothing, stretching into the distance under the glare of the flourescent tubing- as goudy and ornate and confusing, and finally as gloom and oppressive as the dreams of a long time opium smoker. Why am I compelled to riffle through these outfits, tangling up the hangers, tripping on the ribbons, snagging myself on a hook or buttom while the feathers and sequins and fake pearls drop to the floor like ants from a burning tree? Last Tuesday, I paid a visit to my favourite book store. Luckily, I found the books I had in mind and even better, I found another ones.. so I returned to my place loaded with books. I don't know why, I love this book store, they usually have the type of books I like, also, here there are cultural activities like poetry reading and music concerts. There is, as well, a little restaurant where you can eat or have a coffee as you read your new adquisitions. AND as I am a frequent client I have 10% discount in my purchases. Lovely place indeed!

I can't wait to start reading them :)

One more time, for the ones that live in Mexico, la Cineteca Nacional presents La muestra internacional de cine, where people can go and watch some of the best movies made during the year. This year's selection includes, Francis Ford Coppola and his daughter Sofia. Mr. Woody Allen, Buñuel, the Korean Hong Sang-soo.. well, 22 movies, 22 directors from all over the world. Gladly, the exhibition will last more than usual as each film will be projected during 5 days. After the festival finishes at la Cineteca, it will be presented in another cities of the country.

I'm so excited. This Thrusday I'm heading off to Zacatecas, here in my country, to meet other students of Russian Language. Three days full of events and conferences and people interested in the same things as me, yuupiiie!

Let me tell you that this past week I was a little bit tense because I didn't have a place to stay and wan't sure about the bus. Luckily, those things are solved by now and I can just focuss on my outfits and have a good time!

I had a great time at Belle and Sebastian's gigs. I got the chance to go to the two concerts they performed in my city. One day with the boyfriend and the other with some friends, one of my best friends It was sooo cool because the shows were different. They didn't play the same exact songs and their interection with the audience was different.

They tried to play songs from their different albums, so they didn't focussed on Write About Love but played a lot of themes from the past. Among my favourites: Judy and the Dream of Horses, The Boy With the Arab Strap, Funny Little Frog and If You're Feeling Sinister.

Fortunately, the place was nice as well. It is small and comfy with nice acoustic..just perfect! I love being so close to the artists. Places like stadiums are soooo impersonal!

Anyways, it was a learning experience as well. I learned to be patient and that even if things do not turn out as I want I can have looots of fun. I don't know, sometimes I can be a compulsive controler and it gets my nerves when people don't do what I want--- yeah, I know how obsessive I sound but what can I do! BUT really, that week was chaotic andI learned that nothing as to stay calm and cool.

Oh, my.. I'm so obsessed with reading the book EL Joven Orozco. Cartas de amor a una niña!

Believe me.

But it is a little bit too expensive for my finances, at the moment :(

I don't know the story so well but it turns out someone found letters written by Jose Clemente Orozco, a Mexican artist, a Muralist to a girl he was in love with. Their romance lasted until his death but they were never able to be together as her parents rejected the proposal and later on, he became famous and a well known artist during the times of the Mexican Revolution and afterwards.

She never got married but he did. Keeping her as an ilusion, as a muse as something unreacheable but inspiring at the same time.

They only recovered the letters written by him, not the replies, so in order to give contex the author, Adriana Malvido, explains certain parts or describes de place, the paintings, the buildings they are talking about for the readers.

I like this kind of discoveries, I feel you can glimpse the B-side of the artist you admire or you can compare the image you have of them with these kind of texts. Sometimes you get disappointed but sometimes you enrich your opinion of them.

I am sooo happy Octuber is finally here!!!!

(even though it means that I have fewer time to finish my thesis)

It is just that so many events are coming that I can't wait.

Next Friday plays Belle and Sebastian and their coming implies going to the airport and wait for them as well.

Next week takes place the Corona Capital Fest and a lot of bands will be playing including Pixies and Interpol.

And the week after that Air comes on tour, presenting their latest album.

And, yes, there's more, by the end of the month I'll be going to Zacatecas to the Russian Language National Event ... there will be conferences and events dedicated to students, so much fun!!!

Why I find it so hard to find a "perfect" hairdresser, a mixture of creativity, location near my house and reasonable prices??? Why, why??? Is it like finding a good dentist, good doctor and a good lawer??

Not so long ago, I was real happy with my hairdresser but she quit because she was going to have a baby and since then, I've been wandering!

I've been keeping it cool, you know, no, big changes because I don't want my hair ruinned.. but now, I feel like a change and I don't know where turn to :(

Anyways, I'm finally feeling better although I still feel a bit sick, it must be some allergy as well, for example, today, I couldn't stop coughing when I was around Mona. I feel like lying on the grass listening to music.. maybe tomorrow! Or maybe not as when I was sick I didn't do anything as my brain status was Neanderthal, so now I have tons of things to prepare and finish :p

I'm so sad because the flu kept me from tons of activities I wanted to do. But, finally, I'm feeling better and tomorrow I will watch the Patriots' match. So, I was forced to stay home, in bed, resting. But as my mind wasn't focussed I couldn't do things related to work and school. However, I found new blogs, caught up with friends through facebook and rehearsal for Belle and Sebastian's concert.

So, I hope my life comes back to normality by Monday and I can meet with the friends that just came back to the country, one was touristing and two were studying (or so they say, lol).

I know, boring entry but, hey, give me a chance, I haven't feel well and I'm dying to come back to real life pretty soon. It is funny but when we are busy we want a break and when we have it we can't wait to come back to work, so I was sick and I want to just hang around the city again!

So, today my country celebrates its 200 years of being independent and as 200 is a big number, since 2010 started the gouvernment and everybody are making a big deal. So tonight and tomorrow the greatest celebration will take place.

One of my favorite things are the lights and decorations that take place downtown. Tomorrow, when "el grito de independencia" will start, they expect to see 50,000 people in there.. so big is my city. Well, every year there are decorations, you know, the faces of the important guys to help us to be independent, symbols related to the independentist movement, etc.. it's really cool to go downtown at night.

Another thing was this tv program called Discutamos Mexico, where researchers and specialists were talking about the country since pre-hispanic times to contemporary issues like education and media. It was made in this really not-boring way, and there were debates and discussions and not just doctors giving another talk (pretty interesting o_O)

Tv programs have been released, for example, "Gritos de muerte y libertad". This is like a series that presents sort of the B-side of certain historical events. So do movies like the one called "Hidalgo" it talks about the life of the guy that started the independence movement called Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, trying to portray his real being apart from the heroic image we all have of him.

There have been food contests, short film contests, sport-ish events... everything that has happened this year is surrounded by the "Bicentenario vibe"

Streets have been equipped, buildings have been re-built, books have been written...

Anothe project that I looove is this guy that usually does short films about literature and culture and so he made a couple (this one bellow is my favorite) related to the independence period.

.. And I'm not sure what is going to happen in another parts of the country so, as you can see, in a couple of hours we, Mexicans, will be having a good time!!

Today's my mom's birthday!

Early, in the morning I sang Happy Birthday to her and decorated her room, ha ha. After work we went to do some shopping (she now has three new blouses, one of them can be used for the first time next Saturday at her official celebration) and I ended up with a pair of boots. After that, kind of exausted, we had lunch at this place that she loves that offers Spanish food, she had paella, i had fish. We run away from the rain on a cab and got home save. We watched a movie and now we're resting after such a long day.

As the title says, the festival only lasts one week, well, one week and a half and some movies are projected just once, for example, Das Weisse Band or Gegen Die Wand, so I have to plan my week around them because some won't be projected again.

Múm's concert was the greatest. First of all, I got the chance to be prety close the stage, as I arrived real early because I thought there would be more traffic. The concert started a bit late, haha. All the members set in their place and did their thing. Their music is so sweet and cool. I simply love them. What really called my attention was to see all that energy on stage. We are talking about 7 people who manage to concentrate and create great music and at the same time have fun.

The songs I wanted to hear were played, the people I wanted to see was seen and around 200 people and me had fun that night. That same night, away from there (but not too much) Paul MacCartney was playing. Entertaining thousands of people (in fact you could see that concert from tv screens placed at Chapultepec, a famous park in here).

Now, all I have to do is wait for October t arrive and enjot Belle and Sebastian's concert...can't wait.

Today, I left my mobile phone at my place. I noticed when I wanted to text a friend, anyways, nothing important but I thought, surely I'll have some missing calls or something. And indeed. When I got home, I looked for it and I had 2 messages and 1 call missing. And yesterday, I spent the whole day next to my mobile and nobody called me or anything :S

Another ocasion, I spent the whole day next to my mobile, at night when I was at the front yard doing something with Mona it started to ring. I ran but couldn't answer.. it was the boy of my dreams, immediately, I called him back but his mobile was out of service, aaagggrrr.

Finally the weather is comming to sense and it's raining, as it should. Here in Mex usually rains in May. And these are good news because I love rain and now I can use this scarf that my friend from far away lands has sent me.

As my mother and I never do something special on Mother's day because you know, restaurants are full of people and the traffic is awful, we decided that today was the day to do something conmemorative so we're going to a Korean restaurant. Though sometimes there are issues between us, we have a pretty cool relationship and I think she's the greatest.. but who thinks otherwise.

Oh, please, just to finish with my FF fanatism. Let me show you my friends, ha.

I must say, again that I really had a great time. The band started on time, they sang Bite Hard First and then Dark of the Matinée. After that, Alex said hi and invited us to come closer and closer and to dance and scream. We, as faithful fans, did what he said, that's why, by the end of the concert we were so near the stage. So I sang and screamed and listened to my favorite songs for almost two hours and a half.

After 5 songs there were some technical inconveniences that got solved pretty fast, less than 5 minutes. The first part of the concert ended with the four members playing with some drums, all of them laughing their lungs out. I swear they were having a great time, ha. The second part and the concert in general ended with the song called Lucid Dreams, Alex playing the synths, and the rest of them doing their thing..pretty cool.

McMarty jumped to the publich and he was carried around the place and then returned to his beloved partners, ha.

The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't sing Twilight Omens, one of my favorite songs from their last album. Youtube lied to me because I watch a live video at Glasgow where they sang it, grr.

After that, we went to a bar, my friends and I, and kept talking about the concert and having a pop-corn fight.. nice day

Well, I'm a BIG Franz Ferdinad fan and this April, me and my friends and thousands of people had the chance to watch them.. we were so close!!! I could see Alex's smile and Mccarthy moves..

Once upon a time there was the best blog ever or at least one of them. It was written by a guy who worked at bookstore so he used to share anecdotes with clients and books.

It was well written, creative, funny.. I don't know.... ... .. PERFECT!!!

But everything has an end..and Capitan Burton/Sebastian have decided to lead another life and leave.

I'll miss you Capitan Burton, you'll always have a place in my heart..and I'll never forget how, after reading you I became afraid of sellers at bookstores but at the same time realize they have stories to tell and become friends of them..at my favorite bookstore.

As I had to memorize a poem for my French class, I scanned my Les Fleurs du Mal book and found this poem. Lola de Valencia, née Dolores Melea was a balet dancer that insired Baudelaire after he saw her performing at Paris. Also, Manet did this portrait as part of a collection on Spanish artist.

It made me think of my friend Mariana, I hope she becomes famous and gets her portrait paint ;)

Today I had the weirdest experience at school. Some classmates are a bit behind at Russian because they missed some classes, so , my teacher was revising their exercises and noticed something wrong and ask them about it... something that sounded like cheating. A good thing to consider is that my teacher has this thick accent that although she has a very good Spanish it sounds rough..anyways.. my classmate started to CRY.. yes, he did, and tried to explain how he didn't cheat he just "copied" the words from past exercises and so on (that's kind of cheating). So the rest of us didn't know what to do and neither the teacher, I think. I don't know, it just the kind of think I didn't expect in 20-something-years-old students

what happened in the end? I couldn't stay. She gave me my notes back, I asked something and then she gave me this get-away-from-here look so I left. My other classmates followed me-- and so no more screaming and crying show

The thing is that it is hard for me to do things on time. I'm the classic girl finishing her duties three hours before deathline. It is not that I'm lazy (well, not just that) but I'm confident and a last minute girl. The thing is that NOW I do have a lot of things to get done for next Monday--not tomorrow. So, I made this scheduale, praying to be strong enough as to follow it.

I'm so happy. Holidays started. It seems I won't leave the city and that's fine because the rest of the citizens leave so the city is empty: no cars, no thousands of people in the streets. So one realx and take long walks without porblems. Besides, there are some movies I want to watch and some museums I want to visit.

Equally important, as I don't have classes, I'll have time to finish watching My Name is Kim Sam Soon/ My lovely Sam Soon, a Korean dorama that I've been looking foward to watch. Some of my friends have seen it already, so I can't wait to see it.

This is different to a guilty pleasure like ice-cream, fashion magazines or Korean doramas. I do feel in heaven at bookstores and I can't help myself from spending a lot of money in them. That's me, that's what I do.
